MURDER
Police are investigating the murder of Glenford Wayne Matura, 29yrs, labourer of a Belize City address which occurred on 10.03.10. Initial investigations revealed that at 7:20am, whilst Matura was at the corner of Euphrates Avenue and Dean Street, he was approached by a male person who fired four gun shots at him hitting him in the left temple, right hand and right buttocks. He was transported to the K.H.M.H. where he later died whilst receiving treatment. Police are seeking two persons in relation to this latest murder.
ROBBERY
Police are investigating a robbery which occurred at Dooney’s Store on 10.03.10. Jean Maxo Dorgerville, Haitian Security Guard reported that on 10.03.10 at 11:30am, whilst performing duties at Dooney’s Store, three dark complexion male persons entered the store. One of the men was in possession of a bag. The complainant informed him that he had to leave the bag by the door, at that time one of the male person who was armed with a firearm took a Samsung cell phone that was on the counter and hit Leon Banks, 24yrs, Belizean Sales Clerk to the head with the said firearm. The gunman then pointed the firearm at complainant and ordered him to lie on the floor and as he did he was relieved of his 9mm pistol, along with (1) magazine containing (5) 9mm live rounds which is the property of J&B Security Company. The men then fled the scene. Police investigation continues.
POSTMORTEM EXAMINATION
On 10.03.10, Dr. Mario Estradabran conducted a postmortem examination on the body of Jeffery Martindale Kelly where at the conclusion he certified the cause of death to be massive brain hemorrhage due to multiple gun shot wounds to the head.
ARREST
Reference Fatal Traffic Accident report that claimed the life of Felipe Navarrette, Corozal Police arrested and charged William Dixon, 64yrs, retired Belizean of a Corozal District address with (1) Manslaughter by Negligence, (2) Causing Death by Careless Conduct, (3) Drove Motor Vehicle without Due Care and Attention, (4) Fail to Stop and Render Aid, (5) Drove Motor Vehicle with Alcohol Concentration above the Prescribed Limit.
Reference report made by Omar Vellos on 09.03.10, Corozal Police arrested and charged Donovan Franzua, 36yrs, of a Corozal Town address with (1) Attempt Murder, (2) Dangerous Harm and (3) Use of Deadly Means of Harm.
MARIJUANA PLANTATION
On 09.03.10, Police conducted an Anti-Drug Operation 22 miles north of Sarteneja Village, Corozal District which led to the discovery of a marijuana plantation containing 4,000 plants ranging from 6ins. to 5ft. in height. No one was found in the area at the time and the plants were uprooted and destroyed by fire.
