Do The Right Thing
On Tuesday, 2nd March, 2010, a short ceremony was held between 10:00 and 10:30am at the Western Nazarene High School in Succotz Village to hand over the Commissioner of Police Award for the "Do the Right Thing" program to student Joshua Pech for his outstanding disposition at his high school. Present for the occasion were High School Principal Dwight Tillet, Succotz Police Constable 1165 Jermaine Young, high school faculty and student body. Officer Commanding Benque Viejo Police Inspector Claudio O. Mai in handing over Commissioner's congratulatory letter, Certificate and Do the Right Thing T-shirt applauded the recipient, who is the Beque Veijo Sub-Formation's selection for February 2010 and appealed on him to continue doing the right thing. Inspector Mai also applauded Nazarene High for their continued participation in the program. DRUG TRAFFICKING
Reference our release sent on On 3/3/10 where police were in pursuit of a green pickup truck that ran a e checkpoint near the Hattieville roundabout on the Western Highway, Denroy Williams, 28 and Shawn Whittakerm, 28 who was apprehended on March 3rd, were jointly charged with the offence of Drug Trafficking. This is as a result of plastic sack which was thrown from the vehicle, retrieved and found to contain 8.9 kilos of cannabis. Police continue to look for Micah Williams who will also be charged with Drug Trafficking.
FORGERY
Jorge MAGAÑA of 36yrs, Belizean supervisor at Atlantic Bank Orange Walk branch, reported that on the 27/02/10 at 11:30am a male person that indentified himself as Jorge Enrique CASANOVA visited the bank to cash a personalized Atlantic Bank Cheque from Ainsworth Sylvester JOHNSON with account # 100014760 with SR. No. 253017 dated 16/2/10 made to the order of Jorge CASANOVA in the sum of $65,000.00 bcy Casanova requested $3000.00bcy in cash and the remainder $62,000.00 bcy to be deposited into his account number 210995413. On Monday 1/03/10 CASANOVA visited the Atlantic Bank main Branch on Freetown Road, Belize City and using an Atlantic Bank withdrawal slip withdrew the remainder of the money. On the 2/03/10 upon making checks the bank noticed that the signature on the said cheque was not genuine. Police are investigating.
CARNAL KNOWLEDGE
A 14yrs old minor of the Belize District accompanied by a Social Worker visited the Police and reported that on the 14th and 27th November 2009, she was engaged in sexual activities with a male who lives on Zettown Street, Belize City. A medical examination indicates that the minor was carnally known. The male person is presently been sough by Police pending investigation.
HATTIEVILLE
DRUG TRAFFICKING
On 3/3/10 at 7:00pm, a Prison Officer of # 6240 Buttonwood Bay, Belize City reported that whilst he was working at the Hattieville Prison conducting searches, he saw another prison officer namely Cleon JONES coming in the area with a silver Daewoo radio in his hand. He conducted a search on Jones where nothing incriminating was found, a further search inside the radio led to the discovery of two transparent plastic bags containing 145 grams of cannabis. Both the drugs and JONES were handed over to the Hattieville Police. As a result Police arrested and charged Cleon JONES 29 Prison officer of #39 Zericote Street, Belize City for the offence of Drugs Trafficking.
LADYVILLE
ROBBERY
Chun Mei Lin 38yrs Chinese Businesswoman and owner of Holiday Supermarket located at #53 Los Lagos, reported that on 03/03/10 between 12:00pm and 12:15pm, whilst inside her shop accompanied by Lucille SANKOTA, three male persons of dark complexion wearing mask enter the establishment. One of the assailants pointed a handgun resembling a 9mm pistol, black in color at Lucille, whilst the other pointed a chrome handgun resembling a 9mm pistol at Chun Mei and escorted them to the back of the shop. They demanded money and ransacked the Super market where an undisclosed amount of money, phone cards and assorted liquor was stolen. The assailants then made good their escape in a Gold Honda Car with L/P BZ-C- 7259 in the direction towards Belize City. Quick Police response led to the interception of the car and occupants who are identified as Channing GODOY 21yrs construction worker of North Creek, Reginal GARROY 27yrs mechanic of Vernon Street, Kareem WILLIAMS 26yrs of #3181 Supul Street and Ronald COX 30yrs unemployed of North Creek Belize City. They are persenly detatined pending charges. FOUND PROPERTY (FIREARM)
On 2/3/10 at 9:40pm, Police acted on reports of gun shots been fired in the Cockscomb Basin area. They visited they area where they saw a male person coming towards them with a shotgun, upon seeing the Police the male person dropped the firearm and made good his escape. Police recovered the 20 gauge shot gun SN 55246153 and (1) 20 gauge cartridge from the scene which was subsequently deposited as found property.
PUNTA GORDA
DRUG TRAFFICKING
On 2.3.10 Police on patrol in the Indian Ville Area of Punta Gorda Town, where they conducted a search on Melvin CHIQUIN of Indian Ville area of Punta Gorda Town. The search resulted in the discovery of a black plastic bag containing 69 grams cannabis. CHIQUIN was detained pending charges of Drug Trafficking.
ARSON
On 2/3/10 Luciano CHE 26 years Belizean farmer of San Benito Poite Village Toledo District reported that he left home around 7:00pm, on even date with his family to his father-in-law's house to fetch water. Shortly thereafter he saw the roof of his house on fire. He immediately ran back to his house and saw 2 male persons whom he recognized as one Jose XUC and Juan BUTZ running away from the house. The house measuring 20x25 and its content value at $4,725.00 were destroyed. Police have since detained Juan BUTZ and Jose XUC both Guatemalan farmers of San Benito Poite Village, Toledo District pending charges of Arson.
