BELIZE DISTRICT

DRUG TRAFFICKING
 
On the 21st of March 2018 at about 4:30pm, whilst Police were patrolling on Pitter Street, they observed a 14 year old male minor placing a plastic bag at the edge of a fence. As a result, the minor was apprehended and taken to the area where he placed the bag which resulted in the discovery of a pink and green plastic bag containing (403) grams of cannabis.  The minor was arrested and charged with Drug Trafficking in the presence of his mother.
 
STANN CREEK DISTRICT

ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT
 
On the 21st of March 2018 at about 8:20pm, officers responded to a report of a Road Traffic between miles 11 and 12 on the Stann Creek Valley road. Upon arrival, officers observed a grey Toyota Hiace van with extensive damages to the front portion and a female lying motionless with head and body injuries about 7 feet away from the van. Police also observed a white Toyota Rav 4 on the side of the road, extensively damaged. Initial investigation revealed that Oscar GOMEZ, 32 year old Belizean Security officer of a Las Flores address, was traveling from the Dangriga to Belmopan in his grey Toyota Hiace van, along with Maria Esther GUILLEN, 58 year old Belizean Domestic of a Las Flores address, Kenroy GOMEZ, 10 year old Belizean Student of a Belmopan address, and Christina ORTIZ, 25 year old, when upon reaching between miles 11 and 12 on the Stann Creek Valley Road, the white Rav4 that was traveling in the opposite direction made a left turn and collided into the driver’s side of GOMEZ’s van that resulted in his vehicle over turning several times. The Rav4 was driven by a 17 year old minor who was accompanied by Elisa HERNANDEZ, 26 year old Belizean Domestic of Pomona Village, Stann Creek District. As a result, Maria Esther GUILLEN succumbed to her injuries; Christina ORTIZ is listed in a critical condition. All other parties were treated and released. The 17 year old minor was issued with a Notice of Intended Prosecution. Police are investigating.
