On 4th September 2014 at around 9:00pm, a 28-year-old Teacher of Belize City visited the Belama Police Station where he reported that while walking home and upon reaching the intersection by Coney Drive Plaza, two male persons robbed him of his laptop bag. A Samsung Android Black/Red SMART phone, (1) Digicell phone Samsung Galaxy 5, (1) social security card, (1) Holy Redeemer Credit Union ATM card and over $1,350.00 in cash were in his laptop bag. The two persons then ran towards the Philip Goldson Highway where they boarded a grey SUV type vehicle that was waiting on the highway. Police investigations continue.

On 4th September 2014 at 3:00pm, Police Constable #51 Linsdale BLEASE, presently attached to the Domestic Violence Unit at Eastern Division, was arrested and charged for the crimes of Aggravated Assault and Discharging Firearm in Public. At 3:30pm, he was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann Marie Smith and the matter was adjourned. He was remanded to the Central Prison.

On 5th September 2014 at about 7:40am, 21-year-old Security Guard, Corey Douglas HOWARD, of a Belize City address, was shot multiple times on Sibun Street. He is presently at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital undergoing treatment. Police have recovered 6 expended 9mm shells from the area. Police investigations continue.


On 4th September 2014, at about 1:25am, acting on information received, police visited a hotel located on the Philip Goldson Highway where they met a 17 year old female, who claimed she was raped by an unknown male person. The female stated that she was picked up by her friend and her friend’s boyfriend, in a taxi, along with an unfamiliar male person. The taxi then went to the hotel where her friend left her and told her she would be right back. The male person then invited the minor to his room where he had sexual intercourse with her against her will. A medical examination was conducted and as a result, police have detained a 33-year-old man of the Cayo District pending investigation.
